"Hunting Smiles" by the famous Ukrainian writer Ostap Vyshnia (P. M. Hubenko, 1889—1956) has been amusing us for over half a century — it is impossible to read them without laughter. The hero of these stories is a funny, somewhat eccentric character in his sacred act of preparing for a hunt, waiting for a hare or a fox, and returning home — mostly without any catch or even without a gun or a hat. But he is always ironic about himself, kind-hearted, and naive, like a child. And the most important thing for him is not the trophy, but the communication with nature.
