Who is Lesya Ukrainka to us?.. She is Mavka, the Ukrainian Cassandra; she is also her famous line "To keep from crying, I laughed," and at the same time "No! I am alive! I will live forever!"… She is our national code of resilience. Lesya Ukrainka's body of work includes not only poetry but also translations, prose, and dramatic poems—a genre the writer especially developed in Ukrainian literature. In this collection, we invite you to enjoy the author's most famous poems, including "Ancient Spring," "I Wish I Could Become a Song...," "As a Child, It Happened..." and others. Also featured is the drama-fairy tale "The Forest Song," and the poems "Possessed," "Cassandra," "The Noblewoman," and "An Ancient Tale."
